The Pastor’s Wife

In China, people face the harsh oppression of the communist government. Bob Fu’s life is a testament to how destructive the communist government is – from extreme poverty as a child, to being labelled a ‘counter-evolutionary’ as a university student, to being imprisoned for his faith, Bob Fu saw with his own eyes the oppression of the Chinese communist government. But he also experienced God’s power and kindness to both save him and use him for ministry and humanitarian work. Having experienced life as an oppressed citizen of China and as a persecuted believer, he shines as a loving defender of those who have had the same experiences.

Reading Bob’s story was a beautiful reminder that Christianity is not, as communism states, an “opiate of the masses”, but rather, should bring light and goodness to the world around us, in this case showing concern and love for those oppressed by a wicked government. Bob’s nail-biting testimony of suffering oppression, escaping the communist government, and now acting as a vessel of hope for those in China seeking their exodus from oppression was riveting and eye-opening. I encourage everyone to immerse themselves in this historical thriller, allowing the life and ministry of Bob Fu to remind us of the work of Christ to save us from being citizens of this fallen and oppressive world to be citizens in an infinitely superior world to come.
