Remembering Martyrs: Y Ngo Adrong

12 July 2024

A Montagnard Degar Christian named Y Ngo Adrong, aged 49, from Dak Lak Province, was tortured to death in a police interrogation room in Ea H’leo district, Vietnam. Summoned on 13 July 2006, Adrong was interrogated about his Christian house-church activities. Later, police claimed he hanged himself.

On 14 July, his body was taken to the morgue and then returned to his birth village, Buon Blec. Police prevented villagers from attending his funeral, refused to let his family inspect his body, and offered 15 million Vietnamese dong in compensation while admitting fault without providing details. Despite such risks, Montagnard Degar Christians continue to share the Good News of Christ in Vietnam.
